If you’re in London this weekend, you can still visit Metamorphosis, our first group exhibition! Art Space, Marylebone Parish Church, 17 Marylebone Rd.
We opened on 4 April, and we had a blast… once we had, (dare I say successfully!) managed to smooth a few little hiccups, like a last minute trip a trip to A&E (mum life doesn’t stop just because one has a Private View planned)! Wine therefore travelled unattended by black cab to the gallery, with a minor delay, while artist Rosella Garavaglia rushed to the supermarket to buy a few extra bottles. We were the lucky recipients of lots of donated sandwiches by the local Christian community, to make up for the initial lack of alcohol and all 66 of our rose and lavender mini cupcakes made with love by Mitty from Sweet Justice Cakes did arrive on time. So, all was well!
Sugar and great art make for a lot of good mood.
But don’t just take my word for it. Have a look at some of the fantastic bright and colourful photos our member Nia Russo founder of RUAB Studio took.

Photographer Chris Freeman, who was among the guests, came early before the opening and took some nice photos before everyone else arrived (and some nice ones during the event, too, of course. Thank you, Chris!):

A special shout out to the International artists who couldn’t make the evening: my dad, Bulgarian sculptor Ivan Minekov, Gioacchino Loporchio who sent his work from Italy and Kris Kashtanova, who lives and works in New York, as well as portrait artist Julie Bennett, who is based in the UK but couldn’t make it to London the last minute. We also have to mention our writer Melina Dimitrova, who has now moved on to her new job at the EU Parliament in Brussels, but who worked hard on writing our artists interviews till the very last minute! A few interviews are still to be published! Thank you, Melina :)
And of course Our Co-Founder Natalia Giacomino, who had to spend the evening in a&e with her wild child who was, thankfully, all fine.. if a little dazed after that head bump and not allowed football for a few weeks.
Big thank you to artist and curator Diana Ali who came all the way from Nottingham and brought JC Candanedo, co-chair of the Board of Trustees of axis, with her and artist Caz Dowdall, who came from Reading!

Also, big thanks to artist Carry Hornby for all her help with our social media and for her artist talk, which took place on 11 April.
The exhibition is on until 3pm, Tuesday 22 April.
Participating Artists: Diana Ali, Michelle Baharier, Julie Bennett, Caz Dowdall, Simon Dunstan, Rosella Garavaglia, Natalia Giacomino, Carry Hornby, Kristina Kashtanova, Gioacchino Loporchio, Ivan Minekov, Paola Minekov and Dil Vahidova
We are closing the exhibition with an artist talk by artist and disability activist Michelle Baharier, which is taking place on the 22nd at 1pm.
Michelle is celebrating her birthday today and we want to take this change to wish her a Happy Birthday! If you’d like to attend her talk, please RSVP here.
